  • Material Handling: Deposit sorted materials into appropriate chutes, bins, or containers and assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks as needed.
  • Machinery Operation: Operate and monitor sorting equipment, which may include conveyor belts or baling machines, electric scissors, ensuring they function correctly and efficiently.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and dust masks.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including cleaning the conveyor and surrounding sorting line as part of general housekeeping duties.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads or system problems to ensure efficient operations and meet production targets.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a production, warehouse, or recycling environment is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training is often provided.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and the ability to quickly and accurately identify different materials and their properties is essential.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical activities that require standing for long periods, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Safety Awareness: Basic understanding of workplace safety protocols and a commitment to following them diligently.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Previous experience:  as a machine operator and/or current forklift certification are preferred, but not required.
