Imagine a world free of textile waste. Where clothing reduces environmental and social impacts while fighting climate change. We do. Our mission is to educate and empower consumers and brands with circular textile solutions.

The Loopt Foundation

Envision a planet without textile waste, where clothing minimizes environmental and social repercussions while combating climate change. We share this vision. We aim to enlighten and empower consumers and brands through circular textile solutions.

The Loopt Foundation emerged with the mission to extend our expertise to spearhead a transformative revolution in the global textile manufacturing industry by eradicating pre-consumer waste. Founded by Scott Hamlin, CEO of Looptworks, the foundation is dedicated to sharing and cultivating knowledge within the industry, academia, and the upcoming generation of professionals. It actively transforms this expertise into a certification process, guiding and validating brand initiatives to close the loop in textile production. Focusing on pre-consumer waste is crucial, given its significant impact, often unseen by consumers, and its pivotal role in closed-loop manufacturing. In the realm of clothing, where environmental, social, and economic injustices disproportionately affect communities of color, the Loopt Foundation strives to bring about positive change and awareness. Join us on this journey to revolutionize the textile industry and address the often-overlooked issue of pre-consumer waste.

LooptU Education

Recent studies have demonstrated students are aware of sustainability, believe it is important, but critically don’t know exactly what it is, how it affects daily life, or how to pursue it in specific areas. Loopt Foundation, CJ McCollum Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and Looptworks have partnered together to address this foundational need.

CJ’s Training Camp: Sustainability

CJ’s Training Camp: Sustainability offers a dynamic program that introduces students, particularly those from historically marginalized communities, to sustainability concepts using apparel as a conduit. This educational experience involves a global exploration of the three pillars of sustainability: economic development, social development, and environmental protection.

Ages: 13 – 18

Clothes4Good & The Loopt Foundation

#clothes4good

Join forces with the Loopt Foundation and EcoAthlete, alongside world-class athletes, to embark on simple yet impactful steps to reduce the environmental footprint of our clothing. With 8 billion people donning clothes daily, the potential to transform our apparel industry into a force for good is immense, and the time to act is now. Each month, they present a new #clothes4good initiative, with November focusing on #SWAG (Swear to Wear All Garments). Unveiling a stark reality, the average U.S. shopper buys over 59 clothing pieces annually, leaving 50% unworn in their closets. Fast fashion and casual disposal habits have severed our connection with garments, leading to environmental and social repercussions. The solution? Embrace #SWAG, committing to wearing all our garments regularly, thereby extending their life cycle and diverting them from landfills where they contribute to methane emissions, a greenhouse gas 30x to 40x more potent than CO2. Let’s turn awareness into collective action for a sustainable fashion future! 🌍👕
