At Looptworks, we view textile “waste” in a unique way. To us, it’s not the end—it’s a chance to do something new. This belief guides our efforts in textile-to-textile recycling, a process that turns leftover textiles into high-quality materials for the next use.
Our goal is straightforward yet bold: keep textiles out of landfills by creating systems that convert old products into new resources. This not only maintains the value of materials but also lessens the environmental impact of the clothing and textile industries.
One exciting example in development is our collaboration with the California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC) on the LA28 Olympics project. Currently in the design phase, this initiative envisions creating recycled cotton fabrics from pre-consumer excess textiles—a demonstration of what’s possible when circularity meets real-world impact. Instead of becoming landfill-bound, these fibers can be recovered, processed, and spun into new fabrics that carry the story of their past life into a new chapter.
We were pleased to be recognized by CPSC alongside other innovators tackling important environmental issues—from transforming ocean plastics into dog collars to preventing battery fires. The range of solutions highlights that sustainability is not just a specialty; it’s a critical shift we all must make.
“We are inspired by the amazing work that CPSC does every day to further product stewardship. For Looptworks to be recognized by CPSC is truly an honor and a testament to the efforts the whole Looptworks team puts in to further textile circularity.”
Scott Hamlin, Looptworks CEO
For us, recycling textiles into new textiles is more than just a technical process—it’s a way for businesses to succeed while cutting down on waste. By prolonging the life of materials through textile recycling and smart downcycling, we help companies keep resources in use longer, reducing their environmental footprint while uncovering value in materials they may have thought were useless.
The circular economy isn’t just good for the Earth—it’s good for business. Textile-to-textile recycling offers companies a pathway to reduce raw material costs, improve sustainability metrics, and meet growing consumer demand for responsible products. It’s a rare opportunity where environmental responsibility and economic advantage align.
As we celebrate this recognition, we’re reminded that the real reward is seeing more organizations adopt these systems—rolling up their sleeves and embedding sustainability into everyday operations. Because when textile waste is treated as a resource, the possibilities are limitless.
